Like I said in my last post, winter is here. Here's a scrub that will help you fight the cold and make your lips silky smooth. 

   What you need: 1 Avocado

                             2 tsp. white sugar

                             1 tsp. brown sugar

  What you do: 

Cut the avocado in half.

Scoop out a big spoon full of the half without the nut, and place in a bowl.

Pour the sugars in the bowl and stir until it looks like...

This! I recommend using a fork to mash the avocado and then a spoon to stir all the ingredients together. Gently rub on your lips like you would lip gloss, then wipe it off with a damp wash cloth. When dry, put on your favorite chapstick and voilà!


You don't need to add any oil at all because the natural avocado oil in enough. It takes a little while to stir together but after a while the oils come out.
After using this on my lips, I honestly think you could use this on elbows, knees, and feet too!

I know Valentine's Day has passed, but this little project is cute all year round. I had this in mind for our Galentine's party/post, but we were too busy eating candy and celebrating our singleness to remember. Better late than never I suppose! And you don't have to use hearts, you can use all different shapes and colors of glitter. The world is your oyster.

I recommend using the fine or extra fine glitter for this. It will stick better and not come off in your book. The Mod Podge is for the smaller hearts and touch ups. I used glue on all the other hearts.

I used the pencil to draw out the hearts and this little tiny paint brush to apply the Mod Podge. 

AND paper for bookmarks. Hobby Lobby has them already packaged in the aisle with the tiny paper products and paper mache letters (I think).

And here we have Step 1: Get your blank bookmark and lightly draw the hearts on. 

Step 2: Dab a little dot of glue in the center of a heart. Twist it closed and use the tip of the glue lid to spread it around. Apply the glitter and shake off the excess. Keep doing this to all the hearts and use the paint brush to apply Mod Podge to areas that need fixing and to smaller hearts. As you can see this will make a HUGE mess if you aren't careful so make sure to lay down some newspaper or something to catch all the glitter so you can pour it back in the jar.

A while back, I found an idea on Pinterest that I really wanted to make. Of course it took me until now to actually act upon it. It was a post with a step by step guide to making abstract art. It told how to mix the colors and where to place them. you could definitely run with this idea and make more colors and shapes with your piece, but the post told how to make this particular painting. It has been so long since I picked up a paint brush. It felt like chilling out with an old friend.

Here is how I have decided to style it. I will probably get restless and mix it up in the near future, but I think the colors and textures look good together.

Apparently I really love pinecones too. I think they make a room feel cozy. I found this nautical lantern at T J Maxx and had no idea how to put it to good use. I finally thought to put a few pine cones in it and intwine some battery operated twinkly lights from Hobby Lobby. It brings the room together makes me feel like I'm in, you guessed it, a cabin.
